## DESCRIPTION

Open an [ALLEGRO\_FILE(3)](/ALLEGRO_FILE/3.md) handle to a filesystem entry, for the given access mode. This is like calling [al\_fopen(3)](/al_fopen/3.md) with the name of the filesystem entry, but uses the appropriate file interface, not whatever was set with the latest call to [al\_set\_new\_file\_interface(3)](/al_set_new_file_interface/3.md).

Returns the handle on success, NULL on error.
