# acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np(3)

set NFSv4 ACL entry type

## NAME

**acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np** – set NFSv4 ACL entry type

## LIBRARY

Standard C Library (libc, -lc)

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<sys/types.h\>**

**#include \<sys/acl.h\>**

*int*\

**acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np**(*acl\_entry\_t entry\_d*, *acl\_entry\_type\_t entry\_type*);

## DESCRIPTION

The **acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np**() function is a non-portable call that sets the type of the NFSv4 ACL entry *entry\_d* to the value referred to by *entry\_type*.

Valid values are:

| | |
| --- | --- |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_TYPE\_ALLOW | allow type entry |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_TYPE\_DENY | deny type entry |

This call brands the ACL as NFSv4.

## RETURN VALUES

The **acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np()** function returns the value 0 if successful; otherwise the value -1 is returned and the global variable errno is set to indicate the error.

## ERRORS

The **acl\_set\_entry\_type\_np**() function fails if:

- \[EINVAL\]

Argument *entry\_d* is not a valid descriptor for an ACL entry. The value pointed to by *entry\_type* is not valid. ACL is already branded as POSIX.1e.

- \[ENOMEM\]

The value to be returned requires more memory than is allowed by the hardware or system-imposed memory management constraints.

## STANDARDS

POSIX.1e is described in IEEE POSIX.1e draft 17.

## HISTORY

POSIX.1e support was introduced in FreeBSD 4.0. The **acl\_get\_entry\_type\_np**() function was added in FreeBSD 8.0.

The **acl\_get\_entry\_type\_np**() function was written by Edward Tomasz Napierala ⟨*trasz@FreeBSD.org*⟩.
