# acl\_add\_flag\_np(3)

add flags to a flagset

## NAME

**acl\_add\_flag\_np** – add flags to a flagset

## LIBRARY

Standard C Library (libc, -lc)

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<sys/types.h\>**

**#include \<sys/acl.h\>**

*int*\

**acl\_add\_flag\_np**(*acl\_flagset\_t flagset\_d*, *acl\_flag\_t flag*);

## DESCRIPTION

The **acl\_add\_flag\_np**() function is a non-portable call that adds the NFSv4 ACL flags contained in *flags* to the flagset *flagset\_d*.

Note: it is not considered an error to attempt to add flags that already exist in the flagset.

Valid values are:

| | |
| --- | --- |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_FILE\_INHERIT | Will be inherited by files. |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_DIRECTORY\_INHERIT | Will be inherited by directories. |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_NO\_PROPAGATE\_INHERIT | Will not propagate. |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_INHERIT\_ONLY | Inherit-only. |
| ACL\_ENTRY\_INHERITED | Inherited from parent |

## RETURN VALUES

The **acl\_add\_flag\_np()** function returns the value 0 if successful; otherwise the value -1 is returned and the global variable errno is set to indicate the error.

## ERRORS

The **acl\_add\_flag\_np**() function fails if:

- \[EINVAL\]

Argument *flagset\_d* is not a valid descriptor for a flagset within an ACL entry. Argument *flag* does not contain a valid *acl\_flag\_t* value.
