*pvData* **\[Out\]**  Destination for the values data.

*pbData* **\[Out\]**  Destination for the values size.

## RETURNS

**Success:** **ERROR\_SUCCESS**. Output parameters contain the details read.

**Failure:** An error code from **[RegOpenKeyExA(3w)](/RegOpenKeyExA/3w.md)** or **[SHQueryValueExA(3w)](/SHQueryValueExA/3w.md)**, or **ERROR\_INVALID\_FUNCTION** in the machine is in safe mode.
