# SDL\_RumbleGamepadTriggers(3)

Start a rumble effect in the gamepad's triggers.

## NAME

SDL\_RumbleGamepadTriggers - Start a rumble effect in the gamepad's triggers.

## HEADER FILE

Defined in SDL3/SDL\_gamepad.h

## SYNOPSIS

```
#include "SDL3/SDL.h"
```

**bool SDL\_RumbleGamepadTriggers(SDL\_Gamepad \*gamepad, Uint16 left\_rumble, Uint16 right\_rumble, Uint32 duration\_ms);**

## DESCRIPTION

Each call to this function cancels any previous trigger rumble effect, and calling it with 0 intensity stops any rumbling.

Note that this is rumbling of the \_triggers\_ and not the gamepad as a whole. This is currently only supported on Xbox One gamepads. If you want the (more common) whole-gamepad rumble, use

**SDL\_RumbleGamepad** () instead.

This function requires you to process SDL events or call

**SDL\_UpdateJoysticks** () to update rumble state.

## FUNCTION PARAMETERS

- *gamepad*

  the gamepad to vibrate.

- *left\_rumble*

  the intensity of the left trigger rumble motor, from 0 to 0xFFFF.

- *right\_rumble*

  the intensity of the right trigger rumble motor, from 0 to 0xFFFF.

- *duration\_ms*

  the duration of the rumble effect, in milliseconds.

## RETURN VALUE

Returns true on success or false on failure; call

**SDL\_GetError** () for more information.

## AVAILABILITY

This function is available since SDL 3.2.0.
