# SDL\_GetProcessOutput(3)

Get the SDL\_IOStream associated with process standard output.

## NAME

SDL\_GetProcessOutput - Get the  **SDL\_IOStream**\
  associated with process standard output.

## SYNOPSIS

**SDL\_IOStream \* SDL\_GetProcessOutput(SDL\_Process \*process);**

## DESCRIPTION

The process must have been created with

**SDL\_CreateProcess** () and pipe\_stdio set to true, or with  **SDL\_CreateProcessWithProperties** () and

**SDL\_PROP\_PROCESS\_CREATE\_STDOUT\_NUMBER** set to  **SDL\_PROCESS\_STDIO\_APP** .

Reading from this stream can return 0 with

**SDL\_GetIOStatus** () returning

**SDL\_IO\_STATUS\_NOT\_READY**\
  if no output is available yet.

## FUNCTION PARAMETERS

- *process*

  The process to get the output stream for.

## RETURN VALUE

( **SDL\_IOStream**\
  \*) Returns the output stream or NULL on failure; call  **SDL\_GetError** () for more information.

## THREAD SAFETY

It is safe to call this function from any thread.

## AVAILABILITY

This function is available since SDL 3.2.0.
