**SDL\_JoystickType SDL\_GetJoystickTypeForID(SDL\_JoystickID instance\_id);**

## DESCRIPTION

This can be called before any joysticks are opened.

## FUNCTION PARAMETERS

- *instance\_id*

  the joystick instance ID.

## RETURN VALUE

( **SDL\_JoystickType** ) Returns the

**SDL\_JoystickType**\
  of the selected joystick. If called with an invalid instance\_id, this function returns

**SDL\_JOYSTICK\_TYPE\_UNKNOWN** .

This function is available since SDL 3.2.0.
