## DESCRIPTION

ITAV is short for InfoTypeAndValue. This type is defined in RFC 9810 section 5.3.19 and Appendix F. It is used at various places in CMP messages, e.g., in the generalInfo PKIHeader field, to hold a key-value pair.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_create()** creates a new **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV** structure and fills it in. It combines **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_new()** and **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_set0()**.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_set0()** sets the *itav* with an infoType of *type* and an infoValue of *value*. This function uses the pointers *type* and *value* internally, so they must **not** be freed up after the call.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_type()** returns a direct pointer to the infoType in the *itav*.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_value()** returns a direct pointer to the infoValue in the *itav* as generic **ASN1\_TYPE** pointer.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_push0\_stack\_item()** pushes *itav* to the stack pointed to by *\*itav\_sk\_p*. It creates a new stack if *\*itav\_sk\_p* points to NULL.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_new0\_certProfile()** creates a new **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV** structure of type **certProfile** that includes the optionally given list of profile names. On success, ownership of the list is with the new **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV** structure.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_certProfile()** on success assigns to *\*out* an internal pointer to the list of certificate profile names contained in the infoValue field of *itav*. The pointer may be NULL if no profile name is included. It is an error if the infoType of *itav* is not **certProfile**.

CMP is defined in RFC 9810.

OIDs to use as types in **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV** can be found at \<https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9480#section-4.2.2\>. The respective OpenSSL NIDs, such as **NID\_id\_it\_certProfile**, are defined in the *\<openssl/obj\_mac.h\>* header file.

## RETURN VALUES

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_create()** and **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_new0\_certProfile()** return a pointer to an ITAV structure on success, or NULL on error.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_set0()** does not return a value.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_type()** and **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_value()** return the respective pointer or NULL if their input is NULL.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_push0\_stack\_item()** and **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_certProfile()** return 1 on success, 0 on error.

## EXAMPLES

The following code creates and sets a structure representing a generic InfoTypeAndValue sequence, using an OID created from text as type, and an integer as value. Afterwards, it is pushed to the **OSSL\_CMP\_CTX** to be later included in the requests' PKIHeader's genInfo field.

## HISTORY

The OpenSSL CMP support was added in OpenSSL 3.0.

**OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_new0\_certProfile()** and **OSSL\_CMP\_ITAV\_get0\_certProfile()** were added in OpenSSL 3.3.
