# CURLINFO\_CONTENT\_LENGTH\_UPLOAD(3)

specified size of the upload

## NAME

CURLINFO\_CONTENT\_LENGTH\_UPLOAD - specified size of the upload

## SYNOPSIS

```
#include <curl/curl.h>
CURLcode curl_easy_getinfo(CURL *handle, CURLINFO_CONTENT_LENGTH_UPLOAD,
                           double *content_length);
```

## DESCRIPTION

Pass a pointer to a double to receive the specified size of the upload. Since 7.19.4, this returns -1 if the size is not known.

*[CURLINFO\_CONTENT\_LENGTH\_UPLOAD\_T(3)](/CURLINFO_CONTENT_LENGTH_UPLOAD_T/3.md)* is a newer replacement that returns a more sensible variable type.

## PROTOCOLS

This functionality affects all supported protocols

## EXAMPLE

```
int main(void)
{
  CURL *curl = curl_easy_init();
  if(curl) {
    CURLcode result;
    curl_easy_setopt(curl, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com");
    /* Perform the upload */
    result = curl_easy_perform(curl);
    if(result == CURLE_OK) {
      /* check the size */
      double cl;
      result = curl_easy_getinfo(curl, CURLINFO_CONTENT_LENGTH_UPLOAD, &cl);
      if(result == CURLE_OK) {
        printf("Size: %.0f\n", cl);
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## DEPRECATED

Deprecated since 7.55.0.

## AVAILABILITY

Added in curl 7.6.1

## RETURN VALUE

*[curl\_easy\_getinfo(3)](/curl_easy_getinfo/3.md)* returns a CURLcode indicating success or error.

CURLE\_OK (0) means everything was OK, non-zero means an error occurred, see *[libcurl-errors(3)](/libcurl-errors/3.md)*.
